The Los Ebanos Project

The Los Ebanos Project is an idea I've held for quite some time. It is motivated by my passion for Art, Nature, History, & a sense of Small Town Pride. This off the beaten path, road less traveled, most times unheard of place, has a lot of unique elements hidden with it.

Being the Only place in the Entire United States, where you can still get Hand Pulled across the Rio Grande , into Mexico ( Diaz Ordaz, named San Juaquin prior) should make it a Historic Town alone.  The Saint Michael Church which sits across the Baseball Diamond has turned 113 years old this year. But it holds even more riches in the wild life that concentrate in this particular and unique wrap of the river. Here you'll see every color on the wheel flying by, both situated permanently here or migratory. Coyotes, Road Runners, Javaline, Armadillos, Blue Indigos, Rattlers, Bobcats, cotton tale, and so so much more. If your lucky, you might even see the Jagurondis. I have, and so have others here.

Beyond the wildlife, there are the stories. La Llorona walking on these banks, wailing at night. A Glowing orb floating through the tree's at night. Visual sightings of Ghosts. Knocks on doors with no physical being behind them when opened. I would imagine a place this old has many secrets floating about, many if not all being beyond our comprehension.

Another motivation behind this project is the connection I've developed with a few of the residents here. Over the past decade or so I've taken a deeper interest in engaging them in conversations. Asking and hearing about their families history here. And through these conversations I can honestly say I've gained more than a few new good friends.

And so that's the basis for the Project. It's a mix of passions with 1 main goal. To use Art as a way to bring positive change. This project will be a life long pursuit, and will include Original works (Paintings / Drawings), Print's, T - Shirts etc, capturing the subjects and essence of Los Ebanos. A percentage of 30% of any profits generated will be diverted into a fund at the local credit union with the sole intent to utilize the proceeds in a way that gives back to the community of Los Ebanos.
